Originally starting out as a teacher training college in the 1960s, Canterbury Christ Church University now offers a diverse range of different courses and has a very strong record for teacher education. There are four academic Faculties:
Arts and Humanities
Education
Health and Wellbeing
Social and Applied Sciences
The university is spread across a number of different campuses across Kent and Medway, including facilities in Canterbury, Broadstairs and Tunbridge Wells. There are around 17,000 students, of which 70% study full-time. The majority of students here come from the South East of England but there are also over 1,000 EU and international students.
A strong emphasis is placed on sport, with scholarships available for those that have a talent for it. A wide range of sports clubs is available for students, including badminton, basketball, rugby and volleyball.
There are three different areas of accommodation and students benefit from being just an hour away from London.
